Even Hitler had a Girlfriend
Director: Ronnie Cramer
Whom would not have interested in this movie with such title? And what is it?
Marcus Templeton is a loser who works 'shitty jobs' and that it desperately needs girl. At night works as a security, and by day looks sort of bad adult channel striptiz girl that i do not want to see naked. At the same time, someone is constantly under his door trpao religious pamphlets on how the sin of watching programs that show naked women. After several unsuccessful and incredibly poor attempts to give up and start spending money on girls from the advertising to come to your home address ...
Interesting low or no buget film. Mostly due to excellent internal monologue main characters, some hilarious scenes, such as watching monster moviea about sexual episode, a woman and brain in the jar with the comment 'Even that brain got a girl!' If you prefer a slightly different film to try get this.
Conclusion: although presporog paced and occasionally on the border negledljivosti, however, because of the above mentioned details and ponekog jewels worth it to see. - Translated from Croatian

Cantata in C Major
Director: Ronnie Cramer
Six hundred and five film clips are assembled and used to create a piece of electronic music.
As the visual component appears in the center of the screen, the original analog audio is sent to the left channel while it is simultaneously converted into digital music data and sent to the right channel.
The digital data is also transposed into traditional musical notation and displayed on the screen as it is converted.
The film includes an animated 'chalkboard' introduction that explains the entire process. - Bill Iddings

Cantata in C Major
Undoubtedly the weirdest movie of the jubilee and one of the most enjoyable.
For Ronnie Cramers oddball masterpiece, 605 movie clips they average less than a second in length are edited together. The sounds are then converted into musical notes that are played on what sounds like a synthesizer.
Heres the gimmick all the clips are of actors screaming. And the screaming is organized into categories: actors turning and screaming, actors running and screaming, actors pounding on doors and screaming, actors screaming and fainting, actors waking up from nightmares and screaming
Not only is it hysterical, but 'Cantata' also serves as a commentary on how the scream (and other film clichs) has become part of our cinematic language. - Robert W. Butler

Fallbrook Film Festival pops with talent!
Amid the hum of voices and the robust stream of poured champagne, the Fallbrook Film Festival began and ended with a pop! With sounds mingling in a murmur that sounded like a film track, guests at both the opening and closing receptions shared stories. Under the bright tracks of small lights that were fashioned to illuminate works of art, guests and guest-artists were spotlighted.
An eight-minute film that carried a lot of emotional impact was the Cantata in C Major, which was a piece with over six hundred film clips of screamers from vintage films. Creating a piece of electronic music, the screams were almost too much for the eight minutes. One woman commented, 'It made me feel like screaming.' - Nathalie Taylor

It all began Friday, June 13 at Bender's Tavern in Denver, CO. It was here that my magical electronic weekend began, at the Transistor Electronic Sound Art Festival, presented by Symbolic Insight. This first of two evenings consisted of some really great acts, the beginning of which was Bow Shock.
Another highlight of the event was the visual stimulation. Live painting and drawing was provided by Eric Buckner Winfield and Michael Garfield while music was played. Ronnie Cramer's short films provided a nice change of pace between some sets, while bahiya engaged the eye with experimental dance during bios+a+ic's set. - Joshua Jones

Joe Bob Briggs's 'Even Hitler Had a Girlfriend' Review
I found this site of Joe Bob Briggs drive-in movie reviews and it brought back good memories.
This one is for the movie 'Even Hitler Had a Girlfriend' - Nastier Homer
'Joe Bob Goes to the Drive-In' for 3/27/92
Cutline: The ENORMOUSLY-talented Karen Pombo demonstrates how one pathetic lonely guy spent his entire life savings on calls girls in less than two weeks, in the best movie of 1992, 'Even Hitler Had a Girlfriend.'
By Joe Bob Briggs
Drive-In Movie Critic of Grapevine, Texas
And speaking of lonely pathetic existences, the best drive-in movie of 1992 is 'Even Hitler Had a Girlfriend,' the latest from Denver's one-man film industry, independent director Ronnie Cramer. Watch a chubby Omaha security guard in a lumpy golf shirt spend his entire life savings on call girls in less than two weeks!
Andren Scott is the actor who plays Marcus Templeton, a guy so depressed that he sits in his bathtub for hours with the phone sitting on the commode, trying to think of somebody to call. He eats frozen dinners and Slim Jims, watches porno strippers on cable in his underwear, buys a jar of 'Reduce-o-cream' ('as safe as any garden vegetable') to make himself more attractive to women, tries to talk to women who are repulsed by him, considers a 'Wonder Corset,' wonders if someday he'll become a serial killer or whether he's currently insane, goes to the library to research the subject, and calls girls up for dates with opening lines like 'We could go to lunch. There's a Sinclair station near your house that has sandwiches on sale for $1.49.'
I think you can tell where this is leading--straight to the Yellow Pages section marked 'Escort Services.' Marcus gets so deep into hookeritis that pretty soon he's tape-recording his sessions, and about eight hookers down the road, he makes his fatal mistake: he buys a video camera.
How many times have I told you guys? It SOUNDS like a good idea, but talk to Rob Lowe first. Uh-uh. I don't think so.
Here's the real scary part. Ronnie claims that this movie is '99 per cent true.'
This is one of the funniest goldurn movies I've ever watched, but it's probly not available in video stores or theaters, so if you want to order one from Ronnie, send me an SASE and I'll send you the order form: Joe Bob, P.O. Box 2002, Dallas, TX 75221.
We're talking 28 breasts. Six strippers. Eight hookers. Aardvarking. Brain in a jar. Butt tattoo. Frequent indigestion. Gratuitous Pee Wee Herman doll. Crab Fu. Drive-In Academy Award nominations for Ronnie Cramer, the genius who previously directed the violent drug drama 'Back Street Jane'; and Andren Scott, as Marcus Templeton, for saying 'My heart is bound to explode if I keep eating like this' and 'I could go buy something at the store--those people HAVE to talk to you' and 'I wish I could safely pull out my heart and massage it' and 'That chin is being swallowed up by the abyss once known as my neck' and 'At least this is better than my last job, changing those aromatic urinal cakes' and 'Am I going insane? I hope I'm just drunk' and 'This is kind of expensive, but it'll be worth it to go out on a date' and 'I should eat at home and save my money for call girls' and 'Can I feel those?'
Four stars.
Joe Bob says check it out.

Seventh annual film festival is bigger and better than ever
It's funny what a smidge of positive press, a little marketing gizmo, and a good reputation can do for a film festival. This year's Route 66 Film Festival the 7th annual received six times the usual number of submissions, says festival director Linda McElroy, including entries from every continent on the globe except Antarctica.
'Antarctica's just not in the film business, I guess,' she quips.

In this bizarre, hypnotic, and funny short, celebrity mug shots morph into one another over a minimalist, trancelike soundtrack.

Some Short Thoughts on Some Short Films
There are several programs of short films presented at the SDFF. I chose two of the programs based on past interests - 'Faux Movements . . . and other excursions' to get a glimpse of the current state of so-called experimental filmmaking, and 'Fear & Dystopia' in order to see something by local legend Ronnie Cramer.
'Fear & Dystopia' consists of short films by local filmmakers. The two that I enjoyed were The Clearing by Jack Gastelbondo, and Mugs by Ronnie Cramer. Mugs is simply the morphing of mug shots of the (in)famous - Larry King, Johnny Cash, Mel Gibson, Jane Fonda, among others. Some appear to be happy, while others look worse for wear. The film is five minutes of fun at the expense of people who sometimes behaved very badly. - Peter Nellhuas

Diagonal Thoughts
Morphology
In his essay Animation as Baroque: Fleischer Morphs Harlem; Tangos to Crocodiles (in The Vatican to Vegas: A History of Soecial Effects, and also part of the excellent reader The Sharpest Point Animation at the End of Cinema, edited by Chris Gehman and Steve Reinke) Norman M. Klein argues that one the governing concepts of animation is 'the morph,' the theatrical rupture of the stable image in the transformation of a thing into something else.
For Klein, it is a space of entropy within a cartoon itself-an actual 'lapse' of scribbles between two more fixed images.
The morph is a metaphoric, frequently haunted 'hesitation' that embodies all our anxieties about the world around us, and it is shorthand for the entire mediums proclivity for constant metamorphosis.
quote:
'the Morph is solid and absent at the same time. It is like a scar that narrates, a braile of absences.
The viewer can practically run a finger across the ridge of hesitation, very haptic, a touch of all-at-once.
The drawings leave a elegant wound as they dissolve to make way for motion.
The Morph is also a history of production itself, like many special-effects films:
a history of the drawing in decay or erasure; or even of the team who made the effects.
In thirties animation, the original drawing was cleaned up, then traced by inkers on to another medium:
inked and painted on a cel. In the nineties, it is scanned digitally, then paint-boxed, a morph of production itself,
with far fewer strings, often fewer hesitations.
Also, the morph should suggest an uneasy alliance inside the characters body and inside the atmospheres at the same time.
Like Dr. Jekyll nervously grabbing his throat, both the space and the body should look as if they might revert back,
as if the air is dangerous. The morph is supposed to look unstable, in hesitation, on a journey into antimatter,
where many atmospheres meet.'
Here are some wonderful examples of Morphing in the Electronic Baroque era
Ronnie Cramer, Pillow Girl (2006)
Pillow Girl was originally a sound-art work. Artist/musician/filmmaker Ronnie Cramer scanned the covers and inside pages of a number of lurid, vintage paperbacks and magazines, then ran the collected image and text data through a variety of synthesizers. The resulting sound files were then processed and remixed into a collection of electronic soundscapes. The visual portion of the piece makes use of the covers themselves, with the illustrated figures coming to life and morphing into one another during the course of the presentation (each cover is visible in its original state for only 1/30th of a second). In addition to being a colorful and impressive visual display, the images presented in Pillow Girl are a vivid and fascinating historical encapsulation of how women have been depicted in popular culture.
