RC at Miami University
Setting up for a multi-media performance at Miami University's Interactive Media Forum

Gibson S-1

My primary guitar for over thirty years: a 1976 Gibson S-1. In the early 1980s I replaced two of the single-coil pickups with Humbuckers, so I can switch from a Stratocaster sound to a Les Paul sound with a flick of the rotary switch.

RC's Guitar Effects Setup
This is the signal chain diagram for my Ambient/Experimental pedalboard
RC's GUITAR EFFECTS SIGNAL CHAIN: Fender Stratocaster with Roland MIDI Pickup > Roland GI-20 MIDI Interface > Roland XV-2020 Sound Module > Korg Chromatic Tuner > Boss DF-2 Feedbacker Distortion > Guyatone WR3 Wah Rocker > MXR Micro Flanger > MXR Phase 90 > TC Electroonic Flashback > Hofner Delay > Digitech JamMan Solo > Behringer MX400 Mixer > Ross G1240 Amp

RC's 1980s Guitar Effects Setup
By way of contrast, here's the alternative rock setup I used twenty-five years ago
(Keep in mind there were three other people producing sound!)

RC's 1980s SETUP: Gibson S-1 > Boss TU-12 Tuner > Boss SD-1 Super Overdrive > Boss BF-2 Flanger > Ross Phaser > Boss DM-2 Analog Delay > Ross G1240 Amp

R.I.D.

From Kate Carr's Listen to the Weather, a project that uses sound to 'examine the role water plays in our ecosystem, as well as in our collective psyche.' Seven artists use weather data from their home city and a sample from a water-related song. The data and samples are then combined to create a soundpiece that is unique both artistically and geographically. R.I.D. incorporates precipitation data for Denver and an acoustic guitar riff lifted from Roger Miller's 'Ballad of Waterhole #3.' Produced by Ronnie Cramer.

The star talent - and we do mean star - is Rebecca Watson, who rattles off the words in a sultry but full-of-it tone' - College Music Journal
